As part of our exciting renovation project of the building, we are adding a brand-new Event and Conference Centre. Not only will this help us attract a new audience but also create a beautiful and welcoming teaching space for environmental education, eco-tourism, community engagement, and scientific collaboration. As one of Manitoba’s most important wetland education sites, Oak Hammock Marsh is a hub for learning and research.
By transforming the former Ducks Unlimited Canada second floor offices into a public Event and Conference Centre, it will provide a dedicated space for workshops, seminars, and meetings. By hosting educators, researchers, and policymakers, the facility will enhance awareness and foster discussions on environmental issues, ensuring that the region remains at the forefront of conservation efforts.
Beyond education, this new space will contribute to the local economy by attracting visitors to the Interlake. Events, retreats, and corporate gatherings would bring people from across Manitoba and beyond, supporting local businesses such as accommodations, restaurants, and tourism operators. This influx of visitors will not only create economic opportunities but also promote eco-tourism by encouraging people to explore the natural beauty of the marsh and its surroundings.
This will be a space where local groups, Indigenous communities, and other organizations can share expertise and strengthen community ties.
With the tranquil and inspiring environment of the marsh, it will the perfect setting for any occasion.
